On your first visit to anywhere, it’s common to feel slightly apprehensive. How long will it take to get there? Where will we park? What should we expect? How long will we be there? Here’s a some helpful FAQ’s to help set your mind at ease!
How long will the service last?
The worship service usually lasts about an hour and is very upbeat and encouraging.
What do I wear?
Our church has a “come as you are” atmosphere. You will see some people in traditional attire and some dressed more casually. All are welcome!
What should I expect during the service?
Well, rest assured, we will not point you out or ask you to stand. Yikes! You are welcome to just come in and relax. Heads up though…this is a pretty friendly place, so someone will say “hello” to you! At some point in the service, you will be given an opportunity to complete a guest information card. This will allow you to communicate with us and it will allow us to thank you for being our guests!
In the service, you’ll sing the same songs you hear on Christian radio as well as some hymns. And hear a biblical, relevant message from our pastor.
At the end of the service, make your way to the Connection Center where our pastor will meet you, greet you, and give you a gift. He would love to meet you!
What about children?
Children are an important part of our church! You are welcome to have your children join you in worship. For children under 3, care is provided during the worship hour. During the school year, we have Children’s Church. Bring your children in to Worship with us in song and then we will help the kids to Children’s Church!
How do I get there?
So you’d like to come check us out? Great! We are located on the south side of 50th Street between Quaker Avenue and Indiana Avenue. Our physical address is 3601 50th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79413.
Where do I park?
We have Guest Parking located in the south parking lot. Just follow the Guest Parking direction signs and they will take you right to it. Handicap parking is available.
Where do I go once parked?
A sign will mark the way to the entrance. Friendly folks will gladly help you find your way to the auditorium or to the common area where coffee awaits.

About the Scriptures
We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of God. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error.
About God
We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to man and to become the Savior of the lost world.
About Mankind
We believe that mankind was created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man is incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through his own effort alone.
About Salvation
We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, salvation occurs only when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.
About the Christian Life
We believe that every Christian should live for Christ and not for himself. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.
About the Church
We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making Him known to the lost world.
Meet Our Pastor
DR. DAVID BELK
Senior Pastor
Dr. David Belk came to pastor Monterey Baptist Church in August of 2018. Originally from Dallas, he attended Texas Tech University and then Southwestern Theological Seminary where he received two professional degrees, a Master of Divinity in Biblical Languages and a Doctorate of Ministry. “Dr. David” as he’s called here at church, is very practical in his approach to teaching God’s Word. He’s highly relational so he loves hanging out with people, giving high fives and hugs. And he continues providing exceptional servant leadership through recent times of uncertainty.
Dr. David also serves Dallas Baptist University as an Old and New Testament Adjunct Professor. And he’s serves as Assistant Director of New Hope Initiative, a Christian non-profit humanitarian ministry bringing hope to some of the poorest people in the world.
Dr. David loves spending time with his wife Meredith, and his family, Micah, her husband JC and grandson Jeremy, Caleb and Meagan. They love being together and spend their free time on the water, riding bikes, and playing soccer.
